Open Call | Connect South Africa

DEADLINE: 26 May 2021
Connect South Africa is a new fully-funded residency at the intersection of art and science, developed in collaboration between Arts at CERN and Pro Helvetia. Connect South Africa is part of the Connect programme, a global platform for interactions and dialogue between artistic and scientific communities across Switzerland, South Africa, Chile and India, which will be realised during the course of 2021-2024.
Connect South Africa will award a funded residency to one artist from Switzerland and one artist from Southern, East or West Africa.
The two selected artists will participate in a dual residency at scientific labs in Switzerland and South Africa where they will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with the scientists, engineers and staff of the laboratories and observatories, with the support of the residency curatorial team. The goal of this research-led residency programme is to develop and realise new artworks.
The Connect South Africa residency will include 3 weeks at CERN in Geneva, and 5 weeks in various radio and observational laboratories in South Africa.
